“With my eyes turned to the past, I walk backwards into the future”
About Ann Normandy Design
Since 2015, Ann Normandy Design has been guided by the belief that sewing patterns are more than just instructions — they are the blueprint and plans for creating the perfect garment. As with architecture, precision matters.
As a designer with roots as a lifelong sewist and costume designer, I understand the importance of professionally drafted sewing patterns and clear, concise instructions. Just as important is understanding a woman’s body, achieving exceptional fit, and accentuating her best features.
Years of design, development, and testing go into each garment in my collection. Each piece is a blank canvas, designed to create a sleek, minimalist silhouette or to invite your creativity — from embroidery and surface design to even painting. It’s your garment to express your own style.
The woven textiles and clothing of the past continue to be my inspiration. European linens of the 18th through early 20th centuries — grown from seed, hand-spun, handwoven — once clothed farmers and peasants, precious fabrics meant to last a lifetime. I borrow their spirit, their durability, and their heritage techniques, and reimagine them for modern wearability.
This is the essence of Sew Better, Wear Forever™: to slow down, to choose quality over quantity, and to create clothing that endures. Patterns built with care. Garments that get better with time. Pieces made with your hands that can be worn, loved, and lived in for years.
In a world of mass manufacturing, the lessons from our heritage and the importance of slow fashion are essential now more than ever. Won’t you join me on that journey?
