It doesn’t get any better than to bring together constant lifetime passions to create a women’s apparel sewing pattern collection. Kim Collins’ journey in apparel design started early in life while being taught how to sew by her grandmother.
The first lesson was to take reclaimed men’s button down shirts and creating a bed jacket and caplets for patients to wear over their hospital gowns at the nursing home where her great grandmother lived.
From there, decades of theatrical costume design was the natural next step continuing the creative thought process of “making due” with limited budgets and resources. Period pieces from 18th through the early 20th centuries are her forte and passion, using studied design and observing time-honored techniques as her guide.
Inspiration from sewists and the linen textiles of those periods, she created Ann Normandy Design PDF sewing pattern collection using careful consideration to construction details, that surpass most high-end ready to wear garments on the market. Clothes that lend to a modern, minimalist look, but are versatile and could also be considered a blank canvas for other genres of styles.
