Slip Dress Sewing Pattern - Sewing The Spring and Summer 2018 Trends

If there is one sewing pattern that is a must for this season ahead, it's the Slip Dress. It is a great pattern for beginner sewists that can operate a sewing machine. The instructions include a detailed pattern and fabric layout, tracing and cutting and step by step instructions on pressing and sewing the perfect flat felled seam.

So chic in solid linen, it can also hold its own with a print or gets glammed out in sequins and metallics. Here is a fabric round up based on color and fabric trends for this upcoming season. As mentioned in the pattern packet, if using lighter weight fabrics, consider creating a lining.

I get asked all of the time where is an excellent source for quality linen. First, I use repurposed linens from vintage and antique sheets and tablecloths. The quality of linen of the past is second to none. You will find this type of cloth at tag sales, antique shops, thrift stores and flea markets. I will be posting a blog shortly with tips on finding these textiles, prepping them, care and sewing with them. Be on the lookout for that.

A commercial linen source to consider is Fabrics-Store.com. A terrific source of eastern European linen, with an environmentally friendly mill and excellent quality linen at moderate prices. Plus, they have fantastic sales! I've used several types of linen from Fabrics Store and pleased with each one.
